Dr. John Rick Webb, a native of Cherryville, NC, began his full time music ministry in 1973 while majoring in Church Music at Gardner-Webb University, where he also toured the southeastern United States, leading worship and performing special concerts for world-renowned evangelists and special church meetings. In 1978 he was invited to join the international touring group, “Derric Johnson’s RèGEneration” as singer/program director. Rick sang with the group for five years, performing over 500 concerts, traveling 100,000 miles, annually. When The RèGeneration was purchases by The Walt Disney Company to come in-house full time, Rick and his wife Phyllis (the high soprano of the group) sang as the “Voices of Liberty” in the Orlando, FL EPCOT Center for one year, before returning to full time touring ministry.

Rick joined the “Voice of Disney” and former bass vocalist for RèGeneration, Mr. Kevin Miles as the Inspirational recording artist duo, Miles and Webb. The Nashville based duo performed for many of the world’s leading ministries, Christian cruise charters, conference centers, and conventions. At the conclusion of Miles and Webb in the early ‘90’s, Rick became soloist and stage director for “The Day of Discovery” broadcast, which afforded him the opportunity to be apart of television tapings all over North America and Europe. During his time on Radio Bible Class, Rick was honored with a chart topping radio single “Press On”, which has since been covered, by Contemporary Christian artists, Selah, where the song received a second chart topping placement.

In 1997, Rick and his wife Phyllis added a third vocal part to their music ministry, forming the Rick Webb Trio. The trio began performing over 150 concerts, singing to over 100,000 people, annually. For the 10 years of the Rick Webb Trio’s existence, the group performed with some of Gospel music’s most recognizable names. In 2007, when long time friend and member of the trio, Leslie Hipps, resigned, Rick and Phyllis’s two children, Parker and Hannah Webb joined the ministry. Soon after, the name of the group became “The Rick Webb Family” where it remains today.  In Rick’s 40 plus years of ministry, performing over 7,500 concerts, for more than 2 million people, along side numerous Presidents and influential world leaders, sacred and secular, one thing has remained the same throughout his career, Jesus is and always will be the message in his song. On October 28, 2016 Rick was awarded the Order of the Long Leaf Pine Award from Governor Pat McCrory for his 40 years of service to ministry and to his state of North Carolina.
